To create toughened glass, the glass goes through a heating process, compressing the outer surface, resulting in a product which is up to five times stronger than float glass of the same thickness.
Toughened glass is classified as a Grade A Safety Glass. When toughened glass is broken, the pieces are small and relatively harmless, unlike typical glass that can break into razor sharp shards and cause serious injury.
Toughened glass order must be cut to size before being toughened, therefore holes and cut outs cannot be reworked following the toughened process.
